Cardinal adjectives precede a noun. Nouns always appear in singular form after a cardinal adjective because the adjective itself indicates number (noun's quantity):

Ordinal adjectives

Ordinal adjectives are formed by adding «-om» to cardinals:

NOTE For «first» there are also «avval» (comes from Arabic) and «nokhost». Among these three words, «avval» has a wider usage. However, regarding «21, 31, 101, 1001, ...», only the normal word «yekom» is possible. For example, bist o yekom — twenty-first. The word «nokhost» is mainly found in some fixed expressions. For example, nokhost vazir — prime minister.

NOTE As a gernal phonetic rule, when a noun ends in a vowel and the suffix that's going to join it, also begings with a vowel, an auxiliary consonant appears between them. The consonant can be «y, ø, v» depending on the situation. Regarding «do» (2) and «se» (3), the consonant is «v»: do+om = dovvom, se+om = sevvom. The auxiliary consonant is doubled to facilitate pronunciation. Regarding «si» (30) the auxiliary consonant is «y»: si+om = siyom.

So, ordinal numbers are as follows:

Like a normal adjective, ordinals come after a noun and are related to it with genitive preposition (e):
