Persian نامه (nâme) is not actually a suffix. It can function independently as a word (it is technically called a free morpheme). However, it is used in forming many compound words and its productivity is like a suffix. As a word, it means "letter, message" now and historically, it means "book" as well. A familiar example is šâhnâme, the Persian epic, which literally means "The Book of Kings". As a suffix, نامه means any type of written or printed item: letters, books, records, accounts, etc.
